"In the run-up to the Qatar Grand Prix at the Rosail International Circuit, Hamilton said: " I love seeing Toto's Fighting Spirit. "His shot in the last race was laughing at me.

"What if Toto didn't care much and was just cool... That flame and passion is part of our infrastructure and ecosystem and dripping from him," Hamilton added. "He's the leader of the team and I want my boss to be there. In other words, they go out and act positively, chase them as quickly as possible in a millisecond, and walk the road together.

"I like to stick to what he thinks is right, we've grown a lot over the last few years and will continue to be."

Following the Brazilian Grand Prix, Mercedes demanded "deliberation rights" for not penalising Verstappen for the accident at Inter Lagos, but Hamilton said in Rosile that he "fully supports" the team pursuing this route but has "given "no energy" to the process. Mercedes and Red Bull team representatives met stewards in Qatar at 1700 on Thursday.

But asked if he was concerned that verstappen's rugged battle on the course would move away from one of the most tense title fights in recent years, Hamilton said: 'I don't think so. That's what sports are, right?
